AquaNet’s mission is to foster a sustainable aquaculture sector in Canada through high quality research and education. Its vision is to help achieve the long-term viability and sustainability of the aquaculture sector by significantly contributing to: a diversified aquaculture; harmonization of the aquaculture sector with other aquatic resource users; and integration with other aquatic industrial sectors under a management plan that has widespread support of the Canadian public.

Ocean Sciences Centre

The Ocean Sciences Centre is a cold ocean research facility operated in conjunction with Memorial University of Newfoundland. Located in Logy Bay, NF, the Centre houses laboratories where research is conducted on the North Atlantic fishery, aquaculture, oceanography, ecology, behaviour and physiology. Research is conducted on organisms ranging from bacteria to seals.

gastrointestinal illness, poisonings, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease,
Parkinson’s disease, developmental disorders, birth defects, and
reproductive problems.

Expert on climate change and tourism takes post as chief social scientist at Parks Canada

Brenda Jones (BES ’96, MES ’99, PhD ’04) always loved weather so when she had to select a university, UW was her first choice. Its geography program with weather and climatology courses appealed to her, and as a local girl, the draw of living at home and working part-time jobs while studying helped her reach her goal: no student loans at the end of her degrees.

With all the advances and excitement over ‘Web 2.0’ these days, we’ve been inundated with emerging online avenues for marketing and communicating a message. From Flickr to YouTube to MySpace to Facebook to Delicious to Digg to Reddit and on, organizations are intelligently seeking and seizing new virtual opportunities to get the word out. Parallel to the explosion of social networking, or perhaps because of it, we’ve also witnessed and immense growth in choice in some of the more mature avenues, such as email marketing tools.
