Deadline extended for Earth Day’s Hometown Heroes Award

Earth Day Canada has extended the application deadline for its Hometown Heroes Award Program to April 22.

The award is your chance to help Canada recognize and celebrate environmental leaders: individuals, groups or small businesses who foster meaningful, long-term community awareness and action.

Eligible candidates could win either of the following:

• Individual Hometown Heroes Award – $10 000 cash-prize ($5 000 to keep and $5 000 to donate to the environmental cause of their choice);
• Group Hometown Heroes Award – $10 000 cash-prize to support their work;
• Small Business Hometown Heroes Award – all-expenses paid trip to attend any professional development course, workshop, summit or conference focused on environmental sustainability and/or conservation within Canada.

Nominate yourself, an individual, group, organization or small business from your community by April 22, 2011.
