Second season of St. John’s Farmers’ Market off to an exciting start

The second season of the St. John’s Farmers’ Market got off to an exciting start on Saturday, June 6th, 2009 with record-breaking attendance. Over 1400 people hungry for local food showed up and caused many vendors to sell out early. The market has have a variety of old and new vendors, workshops, music, fresh coffee and a fantastic feeling of community for the whole family.

Market coordinators are still on the lookout for more farmers, and invite all regional farmers to attend the market as vendors. Farmers will enjoy the benefits of selling directly to an average of over 1000 consumers at every market as well as networking with other farmers.

The market will run every Saturday from June 6th until November 28th, from 9 am until 2 pm at the Lion’s Club Chalet on Bonaventure Avenue.

The Friends of the St. John’s Farmers’ Market was officially incorporated as a non-profit on March 27th, 2009 as the governing body for the St. John’s Farmers’ Market. It is run by a group of dedicated volunteers who strive to create, maintain and support the weekly St. John’s Farmers Market and all that it represents.
