has joined the Canadian
Association of Physicians for the Environment
. CAPE has grown
from 450 to 2,900 members since 2006 and is presently campaigning in
Canadian municipalities for more pesticide by-laws.

program, is back from a trip that took him to India, Thailand,
Cambodia and China. Bhim’s comments about his vacation? “I’m tired.

Whittam Environmental Award
. Nominees must have promoted a
healthy Severn Sound ecosystem in areas such as habitat restoration,

Registered cyclists can win fabulous
prizes on Winnipeg’s first ever Bike to Work Day, 20
June. This event follows Resource Conservation
Manitoba
‘s popular June 2008 Commuter Challenge week.

Watch Équiterre‘s one-minute video
on fair-trade bananas and the Johnson Ohana Charitable

will donate $1 per view to the Quebec environmental
group. … Équiterre’s invites you to sign a petition
against SLAPPs (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation)
which allow corporations to sue organizations and individuals for
criticizing their activities.

VOLUNTEERS
SURVEY.
Toronto Green Community is
conducting a survey
to find out more about its volunteers to enhance their volunteering
experience. Results will be posted on the website. Due 30 June.

GREEN VENTURE
NEWS.
Congratulations to Pete Wobschall, Green
Venture’s Executive Director, on the birth of his new baby girl,
Evelyn Leigh, born 14 May, 9 lbs 4 oz. Mom is making a speedy
recovery and big brother Sam is very excited. The baby (and family)
already sleeps through the night … Green Venture has been awarded
funding from the Sustainability
Network
for strategic planning and establishing standardized
staff policies and procedures, including up to date health and
safety policies.

BUSINESS
EFFICIENCY.
Green-Up signed a contract with
Peterborough
Distribution
to design and deliver the 2008 Electricity
Retrofit Incentive Program
(ERIP) funded by the Ontario Power Authority.
ERIP assists businesses with electricity demand exceeding 50 kW to
save power used for lighting and motors.

WASTE DIVERSION
BOARD.
Ontario
Environment Network
is calling for applicants to sit on Waste Diversion Ontario‘s Board of
Directors. Applicant
must represent a paid member group of the OEN. Due 27 June.
