The
GLOBE series is a conference about business, sustainability and the
environment. Leaders around the world from business, government and
academia met to discuss how best to meet critical environmental
challenges during GLOBE 2008 March 12 – 14.
Cities and
Sustainability – Inga Bjork-Klevby, UN-HABITAT, spoke about global
urban trends and how different cities are creating more sustainable
urban environments.
Revitalizing Cities from Within –
Greener cities can emerge as a result of the replacement of aging
infrastructure and systems. Local developer, Robert Fung of the Salient
Group spoke at this Globe 2008 session.
Building Vancouver
from Within – Brent Toderian, City of Vancouver Planning Director,
explains how Vancouver is an urban laboratory; from revitalization
without displacement, EcoDensity for single-planet living, and the end
of mega project developments.
Bracing for Change – Resilient cities in an era of climate change and sustainability.
Fossil
Fuel Free City – The City of Vaxjo, Sweden has decided to become a
Fossil Fuel Free City. Anders Franzen, Head of Strategic Planning,
explains how more than half of the city’s energy supply comes from
renewables.
