The David Suzuki Foundation is sending three official observers to the United Nations’ climate change conference in Bali, Indonesia.
The two-week conference, from Dec. 3 to 14, will focus on laying the groundwork for a new international climate change deal to ensure action is taken after the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012. More than 10,000 political leaders, policy makers, environmentalists and journalists from more than 190 countries are expected to attend.
The Suzuki Foundation is urging Canadian negotiators to take a leadership role in creating a strong agreement in Bali and commit to deep, binding emission reduction targets.
The following Suzuki Foundation spokespeople will be in Bali to monitor the conference, and will be available from Dec. 2 to 14 to speak to Canadian journalists about the progress of the talks.
