Ethanol as a replacement for fossil fuel seems to be a controversial subject.
However, among all the pros and cons, I have rarely seen any mention of the dangers of using chemically-treated plants to create this fuel. If we ever do resort to using ethanol, we should pay particular attention to the polluting chemical by-products emitted from crops heavily treated with pesticides and other chemicals.
Organically-grown crops should be used for the ethanol we may eventually produce, or we’ll create even more health complications (such as respiratory disorders and cancers). If ethanol does become popular, chemical producers will be seeing dollar signs and pushing their products on the farmers big time.
Whether we are for or against ethanol use, we must at least be prepared to convince ethanol producers to support organic farming methods.
