Chances are your organization will host at least one meeting, conference, seminar or workshop in the coming year. Question is will it be green? Greening your event is a great opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to environmental sustainability and to educate others about what they can do to be more environmentally responsible.
Environment Canada has a Green Meetings website with manuals, online questionnaires and checklists on preparing green meetings. The US Environmental Protection Agency’s publication “It’s Easy Being Green!” is also an excellent primer for hosting a green meeting. You can find additional resources at BlueGreen Meetings.
Meeting Strategies Worldwide recently launched a suite of products called MeetGreen to help plan and evaluate an event’s environmental performance. The fee-based service includes an online calculator that compares practices of a specific event against the greenest alternative practices. Results provide a benchmark for future events and a comparison with other green events.
Frogfile works with many organizations to provide environmentally responsible meeting materials. Our new custom green meeting packages make it even easier for your organization to green its event. We’re also buildling a list of conference organizers experienced in and commited to planning green events.
