Healthy choices for healthy oceans

Canada’s oceans are suffering from habitat destruction, pollution, the introduction of alien species and overfishing. In fact, scientific evidence shows overfishing is the single most serious threat to the health of our marine ecosystems.
Join CPAWS and other conservation groups in asking your fellow Canadians to put their purchasing power to work for healthy oceans!

CPAWS and its partners have formed a group called Sustainable Seafood Canada. With funding from the David and Lucille Packard Foundation, we have produced a wallet-sized Sea Choice card (download the PDF and keep it handy!) to help you choose seafood from the most sustainable fisheries. “Green” selections identify the best choices–this seafood is caught sustainably from healthy stocks. Most information now available in Canada is based on assessments of US fisheries, but SeaChoice is a program focused specifically on Canada.
By using the SeaChoice wallet card and buying only “Green” seafood, you?ll be adding your voice to a chorus of concerned Canadians. Use the drop card and ask your local restaurants and supermarkets to use fish and seafood from sustainable fisheries. You can also write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to let your community know about the Seachoice program. If your organisation would like printed copies of either the SeaChoice wallet card or SeaChoice drop cards, please contact us directly at info@seachoice.org
