The Ecological Monitoring & Assessment Network (EMAN) Coordinating Office invites you to participate in the 2006 National Science Meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba. EMAN National Science Meetings offer an occasion for the ecological monitoring community across Canada to meet, present their program and findings, learn mechanisms to enhance the effectiveness of their monitoring programs, and identify collaboration opportunities. Network partners increasingly note the challenge of turning monitoring data into meaningful knowledge to influence decision-making. This year?s conference will emphasize the synthesis and delivery of monitoring information under the theme ?Data to Outcomes: What have we learned? Who did we tell? What difference did it make??

EMAN National Science Meetings offer an occasion for the ecological monitoring community across Canada to meet, present their program and findings, learn mechanisms to enhance the effectiveness of their monitoring programs, and identify collaboration opportunities. Network partners increasingly note the challenge of turning monitoring data into meaningful knowledge to influence decision-making. This year?s conference will emphasize the synthesis and delivery of monitoring information under the theme ?Data to Outcomes: What have we learned? Who did we tell? What difference did it make??
Papers and posters are sought in a variety of related areas including, but not limited to:
? Long-term ecological monitoring;
? Monitoring of ecological functions, services and biodiversity;
? Landscape level ecological indicators, thresholds and protocols;
? Multi-party community-based monitoring; and,
? Invasive species monitoring.
Participants are encouraged to address the results of their monitoring initiative, interpretation of those results, and lessons learned of value to the broader ecological monitoring community in their presentations.
