Vancouver-based Ascendant Copper Corporation is trying to raise money in Canada to develop a mine near the border of one of the world?s most important protected areas. Local communities have expressed clear opposition to the project and are complaining that the company is using aggressive tactics to force the population to accept the mine. Friends of the Earth Canada is working to educate Canadians about the urgent need to protect the area?s rich biodiversity and we are calling on the company to respect the wishes of the local communities.
