30,000 volunteers remove 65,000 kilograms of garbage from Canadian shorelines

VANCOUVER, Jan. 26 /CNW/ – The results are in, and they are staggering!
From September 11 to 19, 2004, 30,140 volunteers collected 64,988 kilograms of
garbage from 1,146 kilometers of shoreline during the Great Canadian Shoreline
Cleanup presented by TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. The Vancouver
Aquarium, which started this program 12 years ago, involved 10,000 more
volunteers and collected 15,000 kilograms more trash than the previous year.
