Sierra Club of Canada urges Canadians to put love first this Valentine?s Day

Lovers opposed to pesticides, slavery and the exploitation of children can turn to ?Compassionate Passion: an Education Guide for Lovers and Others? as a guide to choosing St. Valentine?s Day gifts this year. The publication is the work of several environmental, peace and justice organizations co-ordinated by Sierra Club of Canada. The authors believe most of the traditional St. Valentine?s Day gifts of cut flowers, chocolate and jewelery can have significant impacts on the environment, the health of workers in developing countries and often involve slavery and/or the exploitation of children. Copies are available from the Sierra Club of Canada and can be obtained from its website. www.sierraclub.ca/national
