Shipping company fined for December oil spill

Halifax – It's the highest penalty for marine pollution in Canadian history
A shipping company based in the Philipines has been fined $125,000 for dumping oil off the Nova Scotia coast in December 1999. The bulk carrier MV Baltic Confidence was spotted and tracked by a helicopter on a routine flight to Sable Island.
