Join the NCC-Atlantic team on Saturday, August 13 for a beach cleanup of the islands in Passamaquoddy Bay, including Simpson Island, owned by NCC. Enjoy fresh air and the beautiful coastal isles as you assist in cleaning up these nature preserves located off the coast of Deer Island, New Brunswick.
Simpson Island is a critical nesting area for the endangered Bald Eagle. The Quoddy Loop islands are also important nesting areas for colonial breeding birds such as the majestic Great Blue Heron and many seabirds, including the Common Eider. The island also provides some of southern New Brunswick’s best habitat for White-tailed Deer and Moose, which have been spotted swimming from one island to the other in the channels of Passamaquoddy Bay.
Please meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 13 at the Letete Wharf (located 10 kilometres south of St. George). We will be returning to the wharf around 4 p.m. A complimentary barbecue will be provided to volunteers following the cleanup.
