The North American Native Plant Society will be hosting a Healing Gardens Workshop in Toronto on Saturday, April 24. Complete details, along with information on registration, can found on the North American Native Plant Society’s web site at www.nanps.org .
Whether you are simply seeking a quiet place to relax or a tranquil space for prayer, yoga or meditation, a healing garden can help to promote physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Also known as sacred spaces or peace gardens, these serve as personal sanctuaries that can offer proven benefits for those coping with cancer or other serious illness, confronting past abuse or other traumatic events, honouring the memory of a loved one or to commemorate a personal milestone or triumph.
This one day event will incorporate the philosophies of Japanese and European gardens and First Nations healing traditions, along with modern therapeutic techniques. It will also draw inspiration from nature itself, through various aspects of our natural heritage, including native trees, grasses and wildflowers. Limit of 32 participants. Registration is $60 per person. Anyone with basic gardening skills is welcome to attend.
