SOLAR CO-OP. Windfall Centre managesĀ York Solar Co-operativeā€™s project developmentĀ that offers York Region residents an opportunity to invest (Solar Bonds for $1000 each) in local community-owned rooftop solar energy projects. In order to apply for Feed-in-Tariff contracts, the Co-op needs 50 York Region homeowners to sign up for membership. Any landowner in York Region can become a member. Memberships are free until 18 January 2013.

SEX-CHANGE BURGERS. A team of US scientists looked at fish populations in Indiana streams downstream from confined-animal feedlot operations:Ā Ā in CAFO-tainted water, 60% of minnows turned out male. In non-contaminated water, male ratio was 48%. The CAFO-exposed water also showed lower species biodiversity, and the fish in them had reduced fertlity.
