Forests: Rooted in Our Community

On Saturday, October 15, 2011, Credit Valley Conservation will be hosting its annual Stewardship Forum. The day will be filled with a series of indoor presentations and outside activities that will engage you in discussion and hands-on learning. With over 30 speakers from across the watershed and beyond, you’ll be able to attend sessions that suit your interests.

Here are a few topics that will be offered:

From Forest to Consumer – Enhancing and Supporting Sustainable Forestry Locally and Internationally, Christine Korol, Rainforest Alliance

Forest Health: What’s Going On? – Susan McGowan, Ontario Forestry Research Institute

Using Nature’s Easel – The Art of Community Forest Gardening, Robert Cordy, Everdale

Tree ID Walk – Dave Wiley, Credit Valley Conservation

Come network with others who share an interest in stewardship and the health of the Credit River Watershed. The theme, Forests: Rooted in Our Community, reflects the UN’s International Year of the Forest. And the ever-growing need to conserve and restore our natural environment.

All participants are invited to attend the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon where we will celebrate the dedication of Credit Valley Conservation’s volunteers over the past year. The health of the Credit River Watershed reflects our volunteer’s efforts to give back to our environment and we sincerely appreciate all their hard work.
