Growing Native Trees From Seed Workshop – August 23, October 12 and 13, 2011

Come and learn about how to grow native trees from seed!

Basic Course:

Trees Ontario, the Forest Gene Conservation Association, the OMNR Ontario Tree Seed Plant and the University of Guelph are hosting a one-day workshop designed to provide the basic information required to obtain, properly prepare and propagate tree seed successfully.

Date: August 23, 2011
Time: 9 a.m – 4 p.m
Workshop Fee: $100 (this includes lunch)

You must pre-register to attend.

Intermediate Course:

This 2-day workshop will provide a general overview of the operational, cultural and technical aspects required to cultivate native trees from seed. It will provide both theoretical and hands-on activities from the collection of the seed to the end product ready for planting.

Participants will be provided with the MNR Seed Manual and are requested to bring Henry Kock’s “Growing Trees from Seed” if they have it. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at a subsidized rate of $20 for those who don’t already have one.

Workshop Fee: $150 total cost for both days (this includes lunch)

October 13, 2011
8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m.
