OWN KICK-OFF. Green Communities Canada Walks kicked off its Ontarians Walking Now (OWN) workshop series 2 April in Markham, Ontario. 6-7 April the OWN team was in Sarnia and Six Nations near Brantford. Great feedback so far: "Huge variety of information that I can implement"; "Keynote was fantastic and very motivating!"; "Lots of great ideas that I will use to improve the walkability of our community." OWN is funded through a Communities In Action Fund grant from the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion’s Active 2010 initiative.
SPRING WALK. It’s not too late for schools in Ontario to register for Green Communities Spring into Spring activity, part of the Active & Safe Routes to School program.
WISE INVESTMENT. LITTER MAKE-OVER. EcoSuperior is gearing up for Thunder Bay’s 13th annual municipal clean-up month with the 2nd annual Spring Up to Clean Up 20-Minute Makeover. 1 May. Staff from city facilities and other government offices step outside for 20 minutes to clean up litter in their neighbourhoods. Last year 750 participants cleaned up over 75 areas of the city.
