Watch The Sustainable Region (TSR) for The Water Cycle

TSR-logo Virtually all the world’s water is salty, frozen or underground.  The trickle available for human use is part of a cycle that is hundreds of millions years old. The Sustainable Region looks at our often under-rated resource: Water.

Host Dagmar Timmer chronicles where our drinking water comes from in its journey through our three North Shore watersheds and finds out how anthracite and UV rays are used at the Seymour Capilano Filtration Project.

Teaching Water Conservation – With a hip and happenin’ song, a grade two class leads the way with wise water practices.

Through hundreds of kilometers of water mains, we see how top quality water gets to our taps, and find out why bottled water is a poor choice.

What Happens When I Flush? It’s icky at the incoming end of the Lulu Wastewater Plant, but host Vanessa Timmer holds her nose high as she visits its pools and tanks and finds out how millions of complacent workers scrub the water.

Beyond the Outflow – Find out how Metro Vancouver tests the Fraser River and marine environments to ensure federal regulations are being met.
