Feeling bad about your carbon footprint as you get set to book your holiday flight home this year? Well, you can now offset your flight rewards or even your everyday carbon emissions by using Aeroplan Miles.
Aeroplan has launched the Green it up Program to reduce their environmental footprint and make a positive difference in greening up the world we live in. If you participate in the initiative, Aeroplan will match your contribution by 20%. The offer is valid until December 31, 2008.
For 7,500 miles you can offset 3,2 tonnes of greenhouse gases, equivalent to approximately:
• 1 transcontinental 2-way flight; or
• 10 short (one-hour) return flights; or
• 1 year of driving a small car (13,000 kms); or
• 6 months of home energy use for an average family.
Aeroplan Miles redeemed for carbon offsets are transferred to the Carbon Reduction Fund, an independent, non-profit organization with the mission of finding and/or creating, then funding only the highest-quality offset projects.
