Signed Agreement on Land Withdrawal Around Nahanni National Park Reserve “A Major Step Forward,” Says CPAWS

FORT PROVIDENCE, NWT – The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) congratulates the Deh Cho First Nations and Canadian government on today’s signing of an agreement for the interim protection of 70,000 sq km of land – an area twice the size of Vancouver Island – in the southwest corner of Canada’s Northwest Territories. This will include the interim protection of 18,800 sq. km. of land in the South Nahanni Watershed around Nahanni National Park Reserve.
