DIAND reveals options for Giant Mine arsenic

YELLOWKNIFE – Freeze it or lock it in cement: those are the two options Indian Affairs is proposing for dealing with arsenic trioxide dust stored underground at Giant Mine in Yellowknife. There is about 250,000 tonnes of arsenic trioxide at the mine, waste from the chemical process that produced gold there for more than 50 years.
