Top court upholds government powers to protect environment

OTTAWA – In a landmark decision that will have ramifications across the country, the Supreme Court of Canada released a decision today in a case concerning the clean up of a contaminated site in Levis, Quebec. In its decision, the Court upheld crucial government powers to protect the environment and public health by ordering polluters to clean up their contaminated sites.
