The hunters and trappers organization in Iqaluit
has voted to ban all kayaks and boats on the Sylvia
Grinnell River and stop some methods of fishing for five years. The motion was passed at a public meeting
organized by the Amarok Hunters and Trappers Organization Tuesday night. The
group hopes the ban will help increase stocks of the dwindling
arctic char population in the river.
