Whitehorse, Yukon – Biologists and wildlife managers say a Yukon Caribou herd needs emergency protection to save it from extinction. Caribou in a small herd around Beaver Creek area have reached dangerously low numbers. And so, for the first time ever, the Yukon government plans to ban all hunting by designating the herd "specially protected wildlife".
