MONTREAL – Alcan Aluminium Ltd. said on Tuesday
that under a new power agreement with British
Columbia Hydro and Power Authority, it will not have
to shut down a 50,000-tonne production line at its
Kitimat smelter in British Columbia as originally
planned, but will instead cut output by 40,000 tonnes
over 16 months.
