Thoreau Center for Sustainability

The Thoreau Center for Sustainability was proposed as a living model of the Presidio vision. The Center is named for the American writer and naturalist, Henry David Thoreau. Thoreau's belief in the importance of democracy in society and his advocacy for living in harmony with nature are brought to life by the groups that now call the Center home.
