Plant 5000 trees in tribute to terrorist attack victims says Friends of the Earth

September 18, 2001 (Ottawa) – As a lasting tribute to the victims of last week's terrorist attacks in the United States, Friends of the Earth Canada (FOE) is calling on concerned citizens and community leaders in towns, cities and villages across Canada to plant memorial trees in places like parks, cenotaphs and municipal squares. FOE hopes that between today and October 11 over 5,000 memorial trees will be planted across Canada to represent the number of victims.
