Hydronationalism

Canada contains 1/200th of the world's people and 1/5th of its fresh water. We are over-endowed by a factor of 40. This explains why Canadians waste the stuff so extravagantly. The typical Canadian, who gets his water for free or at a low, flat rate, uses 350 litres a day. The typical European, who pays as he pours, uses half that. It also explains why some entrepreneurs would like to export water to other nations in bulk. Domestic consumption accounts for less than 0.2% of the renewable flow that travels through Canada's natural watercourses. What is wrong with selling an even smaller fraction abroad?
