It’s that time of year again EP!C, the sustainable living expo, is fast
approaching. Vancouver sustainable style darlings Twigg&hottie
(with their new line We3) are teaming up with their Main St. boutique
regulars Nicole Bridger and Elroy to host a booth at this dynamic expo
that caters to consumers who want to make smarter decisions without
sacrificing style.

Not only will this be a one-stop shopping
experience, but the booth also offers an educational twist.
Twigg&hottie co-owners Jessica Vaira, Christine Hotton, and
Glencora Twigg will be using a set of green-savvy criteria that will
rate shoppers from sustainable stranger to expert, and everything in
between. They have also invited SYKA textiles to have a display,
allowing expo-goers the opportunity to learn about eco-fabrics while
they try on eco-friendly fashion. Fun fashion and eco-education are in
abundance at the Twigg&hottie booth plus shoppers will also get a
chance to win a prize package featuring products from the three host
labels.

plantatree wine

nov13.jpgplantatree is the world’s first carbon-positive wine. Bottled in Ontario, plantatree Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon will be available in select LCBO outlets across Ontario in early November and across Canada in 2008.

THE STORY
plantatree™ wine was conceived in a rather untraditional way. The concept was born on a drive home from Michael Stadtlander’s culinary mecca Eigensinn Farm in a Toyota Prius. Steven Campbell, Lifford Wine Agency Owner, and Jed Goldberg, Earth Day Canada President, were returning from Stadtlander’s farm after having an in-depth discussion about Global Warming and the need to provide consumers with products that will reduce their ecological footprint.

Convinced that when given a choice, consumers will choose sustainable goods, Campbell decided he needed to do something. After many nights of contemplation in his garden, plantatree™ wine was born.

For each bottle purchased, Lifford Wine Agency, in partnership with Tree Canada, will plant one tree. The trees, to be planted in Sudbury beginning in spring ’08, will each absorb approximately 650 pounds of carbon over the course of their life span.

Fashion High Shines a Spotlight on Sans Soucie

image001.jpg

Fashion High member Katherine Soucie, designer of Sans Soucie, is
racking up the awards. The latest in a list of accolades is a first place
finish in the fashion category at the Design Green Project for 2008. Sans
Soucie’s Lace Series was the only Canadian winner among entries from
around the globe.

The Lace Series is a collection of four dresses that were produced for
Sans Soucie’s fall 2007 collection. Inspired by nature, music, history,
and architecture, the dresses are hand dyed and printed on reclaimed nylon
hosiery that was sewn into yardage before being made into the one of a kind
garment. The use of low impact dyes and printing inks as well fabrics such as
bamboo, soy, and organic cotton make the line almost 100% sustainable.
