Summer 2007 update

Ahhh, summer is almost here….
After almost 4 wonderful years on top of Burnaby Mountain, thegreenpages.ca has moved to the community of Point Grey in Vancouver (just down the road from UBC). We’ll definitely miss the morning hikes, the calming frog calls in the evening, Nature Organic’s great coffee and conversations, and the amazing views and natural settings. However, we have a brand new community to explore as well as the beaches, great shops, and all the perks of the infamous West End (which reminds me, I need to buy my official neighbourhood uniform – a Lululemon outfit……sigh).

Keeping an eye on transgenic crops

Did you know that genetically modified, or “transgenic” crops are now commonplace on North American farms? According to a recent survey in the United States, the majority of Americans have no idea just how pervasive this technology has become. In fact, North Americans have been eating transgenic foods and using products made from their crops for over a decade. So, what kind of effect, for better or for worse, are these crops having on the environment?
