Vancouver’s Projecting Change Film Festival Goes Beyond Green Hype

Passion prevails as small festival launches into its 3^rd year.

Vancouver, BC – Vancouver’s only film festival focusing on social and environmental issues, is back for its third year April 22-25^th at Fifth Avenue Cinemas. Projecting Change Film Festival (PCFF) is a tribute to the fact that passion can move mountains and you don’t have to be big to make an impact. After last years record breaking attendance, sold out shows (every night) and VIP guests like David Suzuki and Ray Zahab this year’s festival is set to break even more records.

The 3^rd annual festival features engaging films from around the world that are paired with inspiring speakers that bring a local message to global issues. This unique platform for dialogue increases awareness and promotes change within the local community.

Here is just a small sample of the great films you will see at this year’s festival:

FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across North America who are re-inventing our food system and forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, that offer a practical vision for the future of our food and our planet.

H2Oil A provocative exploration of Alberta’s oil sands that follows a voyage of discovery, heartbreak and politicization of those attempting to defend water in Alberta against tar sands expansion. Ultimately we are asked what is more important, oil or water? And what will be our response?

TAPPED "There is enough water for human need, but not for human greed." This feature is an unflinching examination of the big business of bottled water. From the producers of Who Killed the Electric Car and I.O.U.S.A., this timely documentary is a behind-the-scenes look into the unregulated and unseen world of an industry that ought never become a commodity: our water.

CARBON NATION is an optimistic (and witty) discovery of what people are already doing, what we as a nation could be doing and what the world needs to do to prevent (or at least slow down) the impending climate crisis.

All Projecting Change films will be presented at Fifth Avenue Cinemas (2110 Burrard Street, Vancouver). Opening night is Earth Day (40^th Anniversary) April 22 and runs through to April 25.

Several directors and VIPs will be in attendance.

Tickets are available in advance at www.projectingchange.ca and at the door. Individual screenings are $12.00. In the spirit of sustainable living, show your bike helmet at the box office and receive $2 off individual admission. Group rates available.
