The Green Living Guide is Toronto’s passport to the best green businesses and services
TORONTO, ON, September 8, 2009 — Green Living, Canada’s leading voice in sustainable living, is publishing Toronto’s first annual Green Living Guide. It’s the most comprehensive directory of places to shop, eat and live green, with 375+ listings, all selected and reviewed by Green Living’s editorial team.
“Toronto has so many great businesses that make sustainable living a whole lot easier,” says Lindsay Borthwick, editor of Green Living. “But they’ve never been showcased together in this way before. With the help of the Green Living Guide, consumers can now locate businesses that fit their likes and needs—and feel confident that they’re getting truly greener options.”
The pocket-sized guide will be available September 14 at participating retailers and complements the online version available at GreenLivingOnline.com/guide, where readers are encouraged to post comments, reviews and recommendations. The Guide will also be available for purchase at greenlivingonline.com as of September 15 for $3.95.
Features of the Green Living Guide include:
- Each store or service is listed with a customized description to tell you why it’s a greener choice—from grocery stores to spas, eco-minded fashion, cosmetics, gear for you and your kids, and the best green home essentials to make sustainable decorating a breeze.
- The Guide is a useful resource for locating green building contractors and renewable energy experts to help you transform or renovate your home with innovative new energy-saving technologies.
- A robust food section that also maps the city’s Farmers’ Markets, gourmet shops and restaurants for your local eating pleasure.
- Three walking tours of the many greener options and alternatives in the city.
- Q&A’s with documentary filmmaker Ron Mann, designer Sarah Richardson of design inc. and Sarah’s House, and Laura Calder, celebrity chef and cookbook author.
All listings are Green Living-approved to ensure consumers are presented with truly green alternatives to conventional products. Our editorial team looked for indicators that companies were committed to protecting the environment, including steps taken to source materials sustainably, to reduce energy use and waste in operations, and to showing efforts at implementing life-cycle approaches to services or product stewardship.
The Green Living Guide will be released concurrently with the fall issue of Green Living magazine.
