Seneca announces first “Green Business Management” graduate certificate in the GTA

Toronto, June 18, 2009 – As sustainable green business practices become increasingly important, Seneca has announced a new eight-month Green Business Management program, to give graduates the skills needed to play a key role in the greening of business.

Beginning this fall, the GTA’s only Green Business Management graduate certificate will give professionals the opportunity to enhance their employability with transferable and specialized skills that will give them an advantage in an emerging field and changing business world.

Designed for people with a background in business and individuals with at least three to five years of experience, the program will cover Eco-productivity in the Workplace, Sustainable Business Plans, Ecopreneurship, Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics, and more.

“Ensuring a supply of qualified and competent people with strong business skills and knowledge linked to sound environmental principles will be crucial to the “greening” of our economy,” said Grant S. Trump, President and CEO, ECO Canada. “Individuals with these skills and knowledge will be in high demand in an increasingly competitive business environment.”

Graduates will differentiate themselves by gaining project and change management skills to incorporate environmental sustainability into an organization’s bottom-line, assist in creating greater value, improve productivity and enhance corporate responsibility for the organization. They will be prepared for a range of careers, including sustainability officers, strategists, managers, analysts or coordinators and environmental auditors.

“This program is ideal for anyone in management or people who want to distinguish themselves in the business world with a better understanding of the ways in which the environment and business can work together to increase productivity,” said Chris Dudley, Chair of the School of Business Management.
