Birth of Baby Beluga at Vancouver Aquarium

20-year-old Aurora gave birth to her third calf at 3:39 p.m. (PST) on Sunday June 7, 2009. The baby girl beluga weighed in at about 60-70 Kg and is 1.5 metres in length.

Aurora is also a grandmother whose first child, Qila, gave birth to Tiqa on June 10, 2008. Qila, born at the aquarium on July 23, 2005, made Canadian history to be the first beluga calf to be conceived and born in an aquarium.

The name of the wiggly new baby beluga is yet to be determined.
