Conference organizers extend a warm Western invitation to individuals, groups, industry, business, research institutions, governments and non-government organizations across Canada to participate!
Held every three years since 2000, Stewardship and Conservation is the national conference where Canada’s stewards can meet to discuss emerging issues and solutions for strengthening stewardship across the country.
The title, Strengthening Stewardship – Investing at Every Step reflects that stewardship has been an active force in sustaining the Canadian landscape, but expresses the urgent need to invest at every level, from grassroots action to policy development, by individuals, organizations, industry, and governments, to ensure Canadians make stewardship a part of living, working, playing and doing business in Canada.
The Conference program will open with a summary of the State of Stewardship in Canada. This will review adopted policy directions, conservation tools, strategies of various communities of stewardship interest including governments, resource industries, and non-government organizations, and will conclude with gaps and remedial actions required. The report will also elicit sectoral responses to their corresponding stewardship actions. The program continues based on the following themes, illuminating the top issues affecting Canadians and where stewardship can make a difference!
* Overspending Our Natural Capital? Making Stewardship Part of the Answer!
* Emerging Trends – Responding to Our Changing World
– Climate Change
– Environment and Human Health
– Role of Stewardship in Maintaining Ecological Integrity
– Changing Demographics
– Globalization: Food, Energy and Biofuels
* Stewardship from the Grassroots to Policy
* Showcasing Innovations in Stewardship
While focusing on plenary and concurrent sessions, the conference will feature poster presentations, exhibitions, networking opportunities, great entertainment and tours. Conference delegates will be part of creating a Road Map for future Stewardship investment in Canada.
