Move Towards Less Plastic Bags, More Reusable Bags in Canada

The Retail Council of Canada (RCC) has struck a deal with retailers to reduce the number of plastic bags handed out and switch to reusable bags. Their goal is to cut plastic bag use in Canada by fifty percent in five years. B.C. uses 1.5 billion bags per year.
RCC’s B.C. office is looking to expand its current programs and build in incentives to meet current challenges: breaking people’s habits and recycling. The Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA), is advocating collection points to be set up for retailers to recycle plastic bags.
GlobalTV interviewed Max Logan, RCC’s B.C. Director of Government Relations & Membership Services, on its news segment, ‘Use Less Plastic‘ .
RCC, founded in 1963, is a not-for-profit, industry-funded association and advocate for retailing in Canada.
CPIA is “an industry organization designed to deliver core services and value to members of the Canadian plastics community”.
Any ideas?
