Beat Global Heat’s Backyard Festival takes place Saturday, July 26th, 2008. A series of small scale concerts, independently organized by citizens across Canada, will bring neighbours and friends together in backyards and other outdoor spaces to listen to live music and express their support for carbon taxes by signing post cards addressed to government officials.
The Backyard Festival comes at a time when carbon taxes are on the national agenda and as B.C.’s carbon tax comes under fire from critics. The time is now for Canadians to gather and show support for bold initiatives like these that will help tackle climate change.
The unique concept of the festival is that anyone can arrange their own Backyard Festival. This festival is about engaging a broad range of citizens in a united day of inspiration and action on climate change.
