The Oak Ridges Friends of the Environment (ORFE) is a volunteer
organization of residents in the community of Oak Ridges whose mandate
is to protect, enhance and celebrate the area’s natural spaces and
cultural legacy. The Friends have worked with the Town of Richmond
Hill, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and various other
partners since the year 2000 to build awareness, grow
community involvement in stewardship, and support programs to monitor,
restore and preserve natural heritage and cultural features in the Oak
Ridges area.
We
produce an electronic newsletter 9-10 times per year to inform
residents about upcoming events and local environmental issues, and to
provide information on nature and green living items of interest. We
also coordinate the annual Oak Ridges Community Clean Up Day, and
support stewardship activities such as tree planting and environmental
monitoring.
