Toronto,
January 2, 2007 —
WorkCabin™, Canada’s green job site, today announced it has become the first career
site to be bullfrogpowered™ with 100 per cent green electricity.
Bullfrog
Power™ is the only 100 per cent green electricity retailer in Ontario that
sources electricity exclusively from wind power and low-impact water power
producers who meet or exceed the federal government’s EcoLogo standard for
renewable energy.
Because of
its investment in green renewable energy, in one year alone WorkCabin’s site,
servers and office base will reduce their emissions footprint by an estimated
4.79 tonnes of CO2 (the primary gas that causes climate change).
“We
know using the word ‘green’ to describe what we do and who we are carries a major
responsibility to show real action,” said WorkCabin founder Gregg
McLachlan. “As Canada’s green job site, being green is our job too.”
As a
Bullfrog Power™ customer, WorkCabin™ joins the ranks of many well-known
organizations and companies, including Mountain Equipment Co-op, Toronto and
Region Conservation Authority, WWF-Canada, Earth Rangers, Canadian Wind Energy
Association, The Pembina Institute, Greenpeace and RBC Financial Group.
“We’re
honoured to be showing leadership in taking this environmentally responsible
step,” said McLachlan. “Organizations and companies with a green focus can now choose to post
career opportunities at a professional job site that has an environmental
policy that matters.”
