The Green Chain Podcast: Severn Cullis-Suzuki, John Vaillant, Jean Pierre-Kiekens & George Bowering

The Tyee presents a new environmentally-themed podcast series, Trees and Us. It’s the official podcast for the soon-to-be released movie, The Green Chain, and features a series of interviews with people passionate about trees. The host is the movie’s writer-director, Mark Leiren-Young.
The Greenpages will link to each new podcast as it’s posted — but here are the connections to the first four to kick things off.
Click to hear Severn Cullis-Suzuki (editor of Notes From Canada’s Young Activists: A Generation Stands Up for Change) talk about why she doesn’t call herself an environmentalist, how she’d run B.C.’s forests, and staying optimistic about the world no matter how much it heats up.

Click here for John Vaillant on making friends with nature, the true value of trees and a watershed moment in the northern Rockies for National Geographic.

Click to hear Jean-Pierre Kiekens talk about how the world sees Canada’s trees, the importance of tree huggers and why rocket science is easy compared to running our forests.

Internationally-renowned poet George Bowering talks about forests, sings about chainsaws and talks about risking his life on logging roads, “tree murder” and cruising for the B.C. government.
