VICTORIA
– B.C. became the first Canadian province to enshrine greenhouse gas
reduction targets in legislation with a bill introduced in the
legislature on Tuesday.
Bill 44, the Greenhouse Gas Reduction
Targets Act, makes a legal requirement of something first promised by
the Liberal government in last February’s throne speech: that B.C.
emissions be trimmed by 33 per cent by the year 2020.
