The www.livinglakeplans.com application, in its simpliest form, is an web based version of a lake plan document, with different document sections being represented by web pages. The main web page lists all the key sections – simply select a section, click on it and it appears. As a head start each section presents option / template text which can be selected and altered to suit your needs – this is a great way for your association members to see what their lake plan might look like when finished.
Note – Instructions for the www.livinglakeplans.com application:
You will arrive at the Login page which will display Guest as the user name.
Once the page loads completely, press Login. If you have pop ups blocked on your computer turn them off OR change pop up setting to allow pops ups for www.livinglakeplans.com OR hold the Ctrl key down while you press the Login button (and keep it held down until a small window pops up asking if you want to close the Login window – say yes). Keep the pop up issue in mind inside the application as well – some links will be OK but others will trigger pop up blocking if not turned off – again holding the Ctrl key down will allow the pop up to appear.
On the Guest page select ‘Eastern Ontario’ from the Region drop down list.
Wait for the page to reload completely and then select ‘Big Clear Lake’ from the Association drop down list.
While in the application be sure to allow each page to load completely before doing anything. If you encounter any problems please email support@livinglakeplans.com .

I am new to your efforts and so am seeking understanding around the Living Lake Application (Aug 2007) that you have written about.
Is this an application that your organization has produced? Or is it something produced elsewhere and you are endorsing it?
How is this application sustained in terms of funding? In other words, what fees are to be paid for its use.
My interest stems from being a cottager on Lake Wahwashkesh near Parry Sound. I am past vice-president of our cottage association and this application may be of interest to us.
Your reply would be appreciated.
Best wishes for the new year!

Hi Andy
This application was created by myself and I’m not expecting to be compensated for the many, many hours I have already put into creating it. I’ve been a lake association president for almost 20 years and for the last 5 years people have talked about lake plans but no-one has succeeded it lowering the initial hurdle of making it easier for an average lake association to start a lake plan. I hope this application can do this!
Right now the only cost is paying a large web hosting company to host the application – the cost they are charging is quite reasonable and I’ve been absorbing this to date so sustainability is not an issue. I’m hoping to get about 10 lake associations up and running very soon to prove the value of this application – both in daily productivity tools, communication and data sharing tools and in creating a lake plan. After that I’ll be in a better position to determine a fee that will minimal compared to the value and not be a financial obstacle – 2 options might be a small fee less than half of what FOCA charges OR the base application for free and a fee for ‘advanced features’ – e.g. with this application you, without being a webpage master, can create an online survey that your members can subsequently log in and complete. You can then use the query / reporting tool to analyze the survey answers. For this advanced feature a fee of say $1 per member – the cost of 2 stamps per member if the survey was mailed to and from – would be reasonable. (A survey sent to all users of the lake is a common first step in a lake plan). Anyway at this point the fee is open to negotiation and will be value based.
To get a good view of the value see the various pdf files on the http://www.livinglakeplans.com/Login.aspx page (particularily the Features file) as well as logging into the application using the Guest account and looking at the content that is already there (instructions in the Login pdf file).
Any other questions send me an email at info@livinglakeplans.com
Cheers
