Please consider asking your BC members to read and make comments regarding a proposed open-pit coal mine 50 km south of Fernie, BC. This area of BC is incredibly diverse. A coal mine here would devastate the local and downstream fish and wildlife populations that rely on the river system…..
The maximum life of this energy plan is 20 years. The environmental impacts would be everlasting
There is coal and coal bed methane on Vancouver Island, Princeton, the Kootenays and around Smithers. If we allow projects like the Lodgepole Coal Mine these places are next.

Re the proposed Cline Mine in the Lodgepole area of British Columbia: this is an original, pristine area of the world, and considering what is currently happening to our Planet with regard to greenhouse gases, I strongly suggest that mining is a huge mistake for the following reasons:
disturbance of soil
disturbance of wildlife
disturbance of plantlife
coal/methane in the air – harmful to all life
Coal is safely IN the ground, whereas burning it, as would be done after mining, adds to acid rain which adds to greenhouse effect on our Planet.
Please come to the side of reason, and preserve life – we are all sharing the same space in the Universe.
Thank you.
