Making a Home for Eiders

Common Eiders breed on small offshore marine islands or on isolated spits and points. The Common Eider duck once flocked in great numbers to the coast of Labrador to lay its eggs and raise its young. However, the numbers have dropped in recent years for a variety of reasons, though scientists think that predation on the eggs by the Greater Black-backed Gull is perhaps among the chief culprits.
