On-the-Ground Benefits are Focus of House of Commons Environmental Assessment Report

Ottawa. The June 5, 2003 House of Commons Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development report entitled <i>Sustainable Development: Environmental Assessment: Beyond Bill C9</i> on federal environmental assessment could make a real difference in achieving environmental benefits on the ground from projects. “If implemented by the federal government, this report would assist greatly in ensuring that the effects of development projects in wilderness are assessed with proper regard to the integrity of ecosystems and the need for public participation,” said Stephen Hazell, CPAWS’ national executive director.<p>
