In Ontario, 30 million trees a year used to be planted on rural, private lands in the province. In the 1990s, this dropped to a low of only 2 million. Experts tell us that in order to achieve 30 percent forest cover and a healthy ecosystem, we need to plant over a billion more trees.
Trees Ontario, a non-profit committed to the re-greening of Ontario through treeplanting, and CAA South Central Ontario, are together hosting an Annual Community Planting Weekend.Â
The community treeplanting events will take place in the following locations:
May 7, 2011 – 9:00am to 12:00pm
Lemoine Point Conservation Area
Kingston, Ontario
