When it comes to getting the jump on noxious invasive species, the power is in numbers!
Join the Nature Conservancy of Canada as they join forces with the Pincher Creek Watershed group to remove Blueweed from Pincher Creek, an important local riparian habitat.
The group will begin the morning together, then split up to tackle this nasty invasive species along targeted stretches of the river. With separate groups facing off against the Blueweed from multiple fronts, they’ll have greater success ensuring the weed doesn’t spread!
The efforts will focus on a stretch of Pincher Creek running through the historic Alberta Ranch – a property under conservation easement. This 1324 acres ranch was named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, daughter of Queen Victoria, who was married to the Governor General of Canada, Sir John Douglas Sutherland Campbell, Marquess of Lorne.
Take part in a day of hands-on community conservation and learn more about the rich natural and human history behind this spectacular property! At the end of the day, enjoy a community BBQ and entertainment, and celebrate shared success!
